I’d like to say a deep thanks to this lady — her honest and raw sincerity on every song that she ever touched, including this album that my sister and I used to play over and over again.  Yes, we’ll be inundated with ‘At Last,’ and probably ‘I’d Rather Go Blind,’ so I decided to offer another side of Etta that I loved so.  

She, along with my mother and so many other great storytellers of song have taught me to tell the story using the vessel that we were blessed with.  That meant to sing through the pain, the happy, to make it real and heartfelt.

As I tweeted earlier today, Thank you for being a badass lady, Ms. Etta James.
